Functional Medicine Physicians have been sounding the alarm for years about the need to address root causes of preventable disease instead of chasing symptoms with medications. 90% of us have Insulin Resistance which is our body’s scream of warning for pre-diabetes. 1 in 5 of us has Metabolic syndrome, a cluster of cardiometabolic risk factors associated with increased risk of multiple chronic diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular disease. This is cellular Damage.
About 21 million adults have experienced a Major Depressive Episode while over 40 million experience Anxiety disorders. This is Discontent.
Loneliness and social isolation increase the risk for premature death by 26% and 29% respectively. This is Detachment.
Stress is often seen as a problem outside of us, but I believe it is the result of our habits, choices, and how we react to our surroundings, including our diet and feeling of connection. I used to think health was just about weight and diets. As long as my clothes fit and I wasn’t sick, I felt healthy. That changed when I heard the word “cancer.” The two weeks between hearing that word and receiving my surgery results (it was a PUNLMP tumor, as close to benign as you can get!) were life-changing and shifted my views on health, priorities, and purpose. I became more honest with myself, took charge of my lifestyle, and built confidence to change. Our daily habits greatly affect our health, and I want to help others learn, gain new perspectives, and see new possibilities around their habits and patterns. I created Stress Rehab to help others build the confidence to change and avoid hearing the word “cancer.”
With 30 years experience in Mental Health, I provide Therapeutic Stress Coaching, focusing on stress as a major health issue. Recovery means understanding how our choices affect our health and building the confidence to change. My approach combines my skills as a Therapist, Certified Health Coach, Reiki Master, and Ayurvedic Practitioner and is tailored to meet your individual needs.
